Carpet Installation - Pro & DIY
Carpet removal is something that you can do on your own to save money. Start by clearing all areas, portions of carpet that are to be pulled and sections of your home that you will need to use to get the old and new carpet from the installation site to the waste site. To remove the carpet, start at a corner and pull. The carpet shouldn't be secured to anything but the floor so plan on being able to easily roll it. Next remove the padding. ( NOTE: Padding can be recycled into your new project if it is up to your standards. Check for staining and penetrated sands and dust.)Last remove the tack strip. ( NOTE: Again this can be recycled so check for reusability.)
Now that you have removed the carpet, installation is just reverse engineering. Taping of the carpet is a step that will be added and is crucial to proper installation. While laying the carpet in sections, each section will need to be properly secured to the last. Ask the company that you purchase your carpet from to explain in detail, with visuals, this step.

Tile Grout Repair / Carpet Patch
For small sections of your floor that need to be replaced, you again can do the work your self. Tile replacement is dificult because you will need to have tiles and grout the original batches. In other words, I hope you planned ahead when you bought your tile and got extra.
Carpeting patches can be easy but making them seamless can be hard. Color matching is again an issue so be sure no to buy to much before you know it will match, start with a sample patch, just ask for it at your carpet store.
