Ca Marble, Granite, & Travertine

Stone tile installation and repair is delicate work. As with other flooring projects, marble, granite, travertine, slate, and onyx tile can be worked on by a DIYer, just carefully please. Professional installation is definitely recommended in these instances but if you are determined to go it alone, here are some tips.

Marble Walls & Floors

Marble, as with the other stone tile varieties, has many applications. Adhesives for marble tile installation on walls as in the backsplash area versus tile installation on floors will vary. Be sure to ask the supplier you see what the proper adhesive will be based on your application.

With natural stone the grout lines will be noticiably more narrow than when using porcelain or ceramic. This isn't a rule but it works well with the grain textures found in the tiles. Spacing can very from half inch to an eight or sixteenth of an inch depending on the application.
